that is such a beauuuutiful song. very much so magical.
Away Away
The river goes rolling
O may, O may
Our love remain true
It’s April again
And lovers are lining
The banks of the Seine
It’s April again
And every eye is shining
Was it love let your lucky fingers
Seek mine that you were meant to hold
Was it love sang a song that lingers
Now both of us are growing old
Lie closer, my dear
And hear the refrain
Of your seventeenth year
In the sun and the rain
Beside the River Seine O
Away, away
The river goes rolling
O may, O may
Our love remain true
It’s April again
And lilacs are springing
The length of the Seine
It’s April again
And everyone is singing
Was it love led me on a Sunday
To dance with you beneath the trees?
Was it love echoed on a Monday
The music of the river breeze?
Lie closer, my dear
And listen again
To your seventeenth year
In the sun and the rain
Beside the River Seine O
Away, away
The river goes rolling
O may, O may
Our love remain true
Lie closer again
I danced with you here
In the sun and the rain
The very next year
Beside the River Seine O
The lyrics I heard on “Our Hit Parade” in 1953 started with” When ever we kiss I worry and wonder, your lips are so near darling but where is your heart”
could you please post it?!!
This is so beautiful……
Wonderful rendition. How soothing and relaxing. Used to hear it on our good music station in San Francisco back in the 60’s and 70’s. Music like this is so hard to find these days (unless you have Satellite Radio or whatever). Thanks for sharing.
Very very nice.
Thanks for posting.
May I invite you to listen to my version on classical guitar!

This song always breaks my heart
Can any arrangement be more beautiful? I don’t think so. I think the one with the female solo is a bit better but this is certainly excellent.
I finally have found you after 35 years. When I was 15 a musician friend gave me the title of this song, but I am not good with memorizing things. Every time I a was down and depressed I would hum or whistle this tune and it would be bring me back up.
I have been trying to find the name of this song since then.
TKS for posting it.
before i only heard.and it`s live!
Absolutely gorgeous! I just listened to A Summer Place for the first time, but this is by far my favorite piece from Percy Faith!
Very moving song beautifully performed!
This was my parent’s song when they were in high school - 1952/1953.
this is what music is all about
Percy Faith’s music just keeps fermenting like good wine, every time you listen to his music.
this song was #1 on the music charts the day I was born. I just found out and wanted to hear the song.Very beautiful.Thanyou for posting.
Time stops while I’m listening to this. And to watch the string players working their magic is such a treat.
I first heard this when I was about five. At that point, I decided good music was a good thing. I STILL love this sound!!! 58 years later
Will today’s kids remember their ‘music’ so fondly 50 years from now?
This music is truly timeless - thanks to sparwood8 for the share.
